I realised this only today

A wise man once told me "No use burning daylight!".
Well hasn't that been burnt into my psyche ever since.
Back on the farm, you get up and get going. Work, work, more work, do, gather, shop, cook, clean, sleep, repeat. That's pretty much our daily routine. Then, we decided to travel most of the year and life obviously changed. Drastically. All that time we used to work on the farm or in our jobs was replaced. Seems easy enough to do...swap one task for another. Simple right? But it's not that easy. We're currently 16 thousand kilometres from home without our things, stuff, a regular job or friends to visit.
So what do we do now?
How do we fill in our day?
We connect.
We play cards together, we walk along the water's edge together, we explore the old town, journal daily as a family, find a play park or swimming pool together. Our days are filled with doing things together. We are no longer distracted with our jobs, maintaining the farm or renovation projects...we're calm, connected and living our best life as a family.
I'll use today as an example. We woke up at about 7:30 without any need for an alarm and had a slow breakfast together. We decided to walk into the Old Town of Kotor and had another coffee at a cafe and a burek from the local bakery. We met an old guy feeding the ducks on the bridge and got chatting to him for the best part of 20 minutes. We then explored a little, went grocery shopping (which is our favourite part of overseas travel) before coming home for lunch, a few games of Uno and a quick swim in the bay. Does that sound like a great day? It was!...but that is what it's like everyday. No living on time pressures, no peak hour traffic, no school commitments or trips to the hardware store.
Tomorrow we're catching the bus across the other side of the bay to explore but who knows what we'll do...and does it even matter?
Relaxing, enjoyable and zero stress. Definitely a far cry from our lives only a few years ago. It's taken a lot of hard work to get to this point in our lives where we can enjoy the life we have created where we're stress free and income secure. It's not easy to achieve but if we can do it by the age of 40 then maybe you can too. We recognise that everybody's lives are different but we might be able to help you achieve a life of travel, security and connection. Who knows...it might be easier than you think.
And do you wanna know a secret?...life is less expensive living abroad than it is at home. Seriously.

From me, that's a wrap.
